Fun planters – Vertical and horizontal

Georgia and Paul have a very creative appreciation; they love nothing better than a well placed, hand made or recycled and repurposed quirky container, so we came up with a selection to suit the cooler months, and their back garden. As inspired by all things Vauxhall pleasure Garden, Mediterranean meets tropical meets herbaceous urban forest meets quirky English riverside allotment!

We picked plants that would be hardy and look good – lots of succulents for starters and silver and red colours for a seasonal splashes. If you want a moveable planter – make one with wheels on. If you have too many kitchen receptacles, then why not repurpose them as planters? Just remember to make sure there is both opportunity for the plants to have access to water held by planting liners, (we used unbleached packing paper, moss and basket compost with gel), and equally good drainage, (use drainage balls and drill holes if necessary).
